The Ships Collection is an ongoing reference collection of historical photographs depicting various types of ships and smaller vessels from the mid-19th through the mid-20th century. Most of the pictures were taken by unknown photographers. Included are images of barks, battleships, cruisers, ferries, sailing ships, schooners, steamboats, sternwheelers, and tugboats. Docks, piers and wharves, harbors, freight, shipwrecks, and boat launchings are also shown.
